ChatGPT Myth Busting 2: All AI Copy Sounds the Same

How many articles have you read recently that start something like:

  • “In the age of rapidly advancing technology”
  • “In today’s ever-evolving business landscape”
  • “In the eco-conscious world we live in”…

Sound familiar?  If you ask an AI bot like ChatGPT to write an article the chances are that you will end up with a blog that starts like this.  BUT that doesn’t mean that all AI copy sounds the same.  All it means is, you aren’t using it properly…yet.

The Problem of Monotonous AI Copy

When it is spitting out unimaginative blog posts, it’s easy to assume that AI-generated content lacks diversity and uniqueness.  Some sceptics argue that AI, such as ChatGPT, is only capable of churning out generic, robotic text that fails to capture the essence of a brand or a specific tone. What they are missing is that AI-generated copy needs to be tailored to match a brand’s voice and style.

You have to train AI

Once you teach your AI tool of choice how to write the way you want it to, then there is no stopping you!

Step One: Get a Copywriter to Train Your AI

The easiest way to produce AI-generated copy that doesn’t sound generic, is to collaborate with a copywriter who has experience in training AI.  They will help to craft the prompts that will yield content that is in line with your brand’s identity.  Not sure where to start with this one…well, you can always hire me!

Step Two: Define Your Brand Voice

Before diving into AI-powered content creation, you need to have a well-defined brand voice. This includes your brand’s personality, tone, and style. Your copywriter will use this as a guide to instruct the AI, ensuring the output aligns with your brand’s character.  Need help?  Try our Brand Voice Workshop.

Step 3: Focus on High-Quality Prompts

Effective prompts are the path to good AI-generated content.  Prompts provide the AI with the necessary context to generate the right content. Your AI Trainer/Copywriter will craft prompts that are not only easy for you to understand and reuse, but also align with your brand’s voice.

Step 4: Iterate and Refine

Content creation is an iterative process. Your copywriter and AI will work together to generate content, review it, and make refinements as needed. As they work, the AI will learn and adapt to produce accurate and brand-aligned content.

The problem of AI copy sounding the same is easily fixed when you have an experienced copywriter on board who understands how to train your AI tool of choice and set you up with high-quality prompts. Remember that AI isn’t here to replace creativity; it’s here to enhance it, offering new possibilities for content creation that respects and reflects your brand’s unique identity.
